A special variety of lettuce grew in a hydroponic farm in Easthampton, Massachusetts. Its leaves were savoyed, it grew quickly and never had pests, and, for some obscure reason, it was called Starfighter. It was the talk of the Production Room, admired by all who saw it. But jealousy soon began to stir in the hearts of the other plants.
The cucumbers, peppers, and herbs all felt overshadowed by the magnificent Starfighter lettuce. They whispered among themselves, plotting to get rid of it. They went to the Head Farmer and complained, “This lettuce is too showy. It’s stealing all the attention from the rest of us. Please remove it.”
But the wise Head Farmer saw the true value of each plant that he was growing. “Starfighter lettuce is unique and special in its own way. It adds beauty to the garden and brings joy to those who eat it. We should celebrate its differences and not be envious.”
Slowly but surely, the other vegetables began to appreciate Starfighter lettuce for what it was. They realized that each plant had its own unique beauty and taste And they all learned to live together in harmony, enjoying the bounty of the farm and the diversity of its plants.
From then on, whenever the other vegetables saw Starfighter lettuce, they would smile and appreciate its unique beauty. And the farm thrived, full of happy and contented plants.
